AC Milan could make last-minute sale
The transfer market is still open in some countries and AC Milan could make one last-minute sale.
While many fans were hoping for a helping hand from the January transfer window, the outcome could be considered rather disappointing. Except the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, AC Milan failed to record any meaningful business.
Simon Kjaer, Alexis Saelemaekers and Asmir Begovic were the other signings with the club mostly concentrated on selling players. Piatek joined Hertha Berlin for €30 million, Suso moved to Sevilla, Ricardo Rodriguez left for PSV and Mattia Caldara returned to Atalanta. However, that may not mean the end.
While the January market is closed in Italy, it’s still open in some countries. The Rossoneri are still allowed to sell players and veteran midfielder Lucas Biglia could be the last minute departure of AC Milan.
The 34-year-old is one of the players not part of Stefano Pioli’s project. Biglia’s contract with AC Milan expires at the end of the season, however, Lucas could leave earlier and return to Argentina to join Boca Juniors reports Calciomercato. Boca are in search of a new defensive midfielder after Daniele De Rossi announced his retirement.
Considering the contract situation and age of the Argentine midfielder, AC Milan can hardly expect to make any significant profit from the sale of Biglia. Milan purchased Biglia from Lazio three years ago for a figure of nearly €20 million. Lucas failed to justify the important transfer fee with many injuries affecting his career at San Siro. The last league appearance of former Lazio was on 12 December against Bologna.
